Manage Your Students and Classes
Class lists built for busy teachers
The Students area of Assess and Teach is where you build and maintain the class lists that power every assessment. Add pupils one at a time, paste a register straight from your school's MIS, or bulk-import a CSV exported from SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, or any other system. Each pupil is tagged with their year group and class, so the right children automatically appear when you start marking.
Pupil profiles are private to your account by default. If you are part of a school team, your colleagues can share class lists through a single invite code, removing the need for every teacher to re-enter the same names.
Why pupil profiles matter for AI marking
Linking each assessment to a named pupil unlocks the most powerful features in Assess and Teach. The dashboard can then show progress over time, surface recurring gaps in learning, group pupils with similar next steps, and auto-suggest smart targets based on previously unmet objectives. Without pupil profiles, every assessment is a one-off — with them, the tool becomes a longitudinal record of every child's writing, reading, and maths journey.
Profiles also drive the printable feedback slips and parent share links. When you generate a slip or a read-only report, the pupil's name, year group, and assessment date are populated automatically, saving another small but real chunk of admin time.
Bulk import, edit, and archive
You can import a full year group in seconds using the CSV importer. Headers are auto-mapped to name, year group, and class, with a preview step before anything is saved. Pupils can be edited or moved between classes at any time, and you can archive leavers at the end of the school year without losing their assessment history. New starters in September? Add them in a single bulk paste.
